What is Sarubobo?

Sarubobo [さるぼぼ] is a Japanese doll which has no facial features hand made and passed down by grandmothers to their grandchildren as a lucky charm. The dolls come in different colors - blue, red, green, etc. representing good luck in various spheres of life - work, marriage and health respectively.

Who is writing?

My name is Vedang [वेदांग] and I am something of an artist myself. Many a times I stumbled upon beautiful, soul touching works of art but forgot to document them in one place, a thing I so regret.

That is why I started this blog; and named it in the memory of that day, when I learned about endearing tradition of Sarubobo - from the small town of Takayama, right here in Delhi. I look forward to sharing more of my interests on this site.
